What an amazing  journey we have had during this first autumn term in Year 2!
It has certainly been a long and sometimes challenging term, but it has also been filled with incredible moments of discovery, creativity and growth. Together, we have explored new ideas, learned new skills and celebrated the wonderful progress that the children have made.
In our history lessons, we learned about remarkable trailblazers such as Neil Armstrong, Mary Anning and Christopher Columbus. Their incredible discoveries changed the course of history and the children were captivated by their stories, gaining a deeper understanding of how these individuals have shaped the world we live in today.
We also unleashed our imaginations as illustrators and writers, diving into the world of traditional tales. The children created their own magical stories, showing both their creativity and their growing skills in storytelling and illustration.
As scientists, we conducted hands-on experiments, learning about the importance of fair testing to ensure reliable results. The children took pride in their scientific investigations, gaining a clearer understanding of how the world works through exploration and inquiry.
In maths, we traveled through the world of numbers, reviewing number bonds to 10, 20 and 100. This strengthened the children’s mathematical foundations, giving them the confidence to tackle more complex problems in the future.
Our time at Forest School was another highlight, where we left the classroom behind to immerse ourselves in the outstanding natural environment at UCPS. The children enjoyed discovering the wonders of nature, learning not only about the outdoors but also about teamwork and collaboration as they explored together.
I am thrilled to say that the children in Year 2 have settled wonderfully into their new routines. They are already thriving, embodying the core values of the school.  As we look ahead, I am confident that even more exciting and enriching learning experiences await us.
Thank you all for your continued support. It’s been an incredible journey so far and I can’t wait to see what the rest of the year holds for our young learners!
As Jean Piaget said:
“The goal of education is not to increase the amount of knowledge but to create the possibilities for a child to invent and discover, to create men who are capable of doing new things.”
Have a wonderful and restful  half-term  !
Year 2 team.
