We’re all thrilled to be back at school and are ready to dive into a new year full of exciting learning opportunities. I hope you all had a fantastic summer. It has only been a few days but it has been a great start by the all the Y2 students.
Our focus for the first half-term in English will be poetry. We have been looking at poems and what makes them great. We will be writing poems about nature to celebrate World Nature Day, which is on the 3rd of October this year.
In phonics, we have been reviewing the /air/ sound and our new learning has been focused on the /ea/ sound. Words include great, pain, game and stay.
History focuses on Trailblazers, looking at what makes people great and how people from the past have changed how we do things.
Science, we have started to look at materials and their properties.
In maths, we have started by reviewing place value and how we combine tens and ones to improve our addition skills.
Key messages:
Weather: The weather is changing and there has been some rain, could you please make sure your child comes to school with a coat.
PE: Please make sure your child brings in their PE kits.
Family Board: Could you please send a picture of your child and their family to enquiries or they can bring in a photo to go on our class Family Board.
