Welcome back to a brand new year at school! We have had a fantastic first week back and are all looking forward to the year ahead.
After the long break, we have taken time to get back into the school routine, have been learning to learn and reminding ourselves of the school values.
In English, we read ‘The Colour Monster’ and learnt about the different emotions we might feel during the day and how to manage them.
In Maths, we have been learning some different dice games to improve our mental arithmetic. Please find a link here for some games you might like to play at home: Dice Games
Next week we will be starting formal learning in books and have been working on our presentation. We are encouraging the children to write one digit in each box in their book and they have made a great start!
Key Messages
PE days
All classes have PE on Fridays. Please ensure your child has a complete kit that includes: black or navy blue shorts and jogging bottoms or leggings, a plain white t-shirt, navy blue jumper or hoodie and trainers.
Forest school
We are lucky to have forest school this half term in year 2. This will start the week commencing 18th September.
Robins – Monday
Swifts – Tuesday
Skylarks – Thursday
Please ensure your child has a forest school kit in on those days that includes: warm clothing, waterproofs and a change of shoes (ideally wellies or sturdy shoes).
Snacks
The school provides all children in KS1 with fruit or vegetables. However, please do send your child in with an extra healthy snack if you wish but this must contain no nuts.
Parent meetings
Next week, Miss Millar will be holding a meeting for year 2 parents and carers on Wednesday 13th September at 3.30pm in the seminar rooms. Please come through the office and she looks forward to seeing you there! If you are unable to attend the workshop, the presentation will be sent to you via ParentMail.
Family photos
We are busy creating our new class family boards for the year and would love a family photo from each family to put on display. Please can you send your child in with a photograph or, alternatively email this to enquires.
