We hope you’ve all had a fun, restful break and are raring to go for all the learning we’ve got in store this term.

We’d also like to wish Eid Mubarak to everyone that celebrates and hope you have a joyous celebration!

This week in maths we have been learning the different denominations of money as well as the important differences between a coin/note and its value.

In english we have explored poems, annotated the features we enjoy from them, practiced reading out loud and up-levelled our adjectives. Why go fast when you can go supersonic?

We have also very excitedly begun DT and started to explore what a soap box derby is, as well as some important parts that are necessary for a vehicle to work.

And in STEM we have been on a microhabitat hunt as we begin to learn about the food chain…

Next week:

In phonics we will be looking at the /n/ sound and its different spellings: n, nn, ne, gn, kn

In maths we will continue to learn about Money and how we count and use it.

In english we will also continue to explore our poetry collection ‘Cherry Moon’ and begin to think about how we can write our own poems.

Kind wishes,

The Year 2 team.
