And just like that we have come to the end of our first half term in Year 2- what a fabulous half term it has been! We have been so proud of the way that the children in Skylarks, Robins and Swifts have risen to the challenge of being the oldest children in KS1.

This week we have worked very hard to showcase all the learning we have done so far in the end of unit assessments. We have been impressed with the way the children were courageous and resilient in their learning this week. It was wonderful to see so many of you enjoying your children’s super learning during Family Friday- thank you for joining us!

Next half term our project will be ‘Conservation’. We will be learning about the animals that live in the Polar Regions. We will explore how climate change is having an impact on these animals and questioning what humans can do to make a positive change.

English: we will be writing speeches about we think animals should be kept in zoos or not

Phonics: /j/ j as in jam, g as in giraffe, ge as in huge and dge as in dodge

Maths: we will be finding one more and one less than any 2-digit number

Science: we will be exploring the differences between things that are living, dead and have never been alive

Geography: we will be considering the weather and seasonal patterns within the UK. We will also be exploring the Polar Regions and the animals that live there.

Art: we will be recreating animal patterns and textures using pencils

We hope that you have a wonderful break over half term.

Warmest wishes,

The Year 2 Team
