Wow! Where has this week gone!? The children have worked so very hard this week and their teachers are very proud!

We have been exploring instruction writing during our English lessons and noticing how imperative verbs are used to give specific commands. During Maths we have been using different strategies to subtract two 2-digit numbers (without regrouping). Children- can you explain why 75 – 20 – 3 is easier to solve than 75 – 23? During our History lessons we have been examining royal portraits and noticing the symbolism of these artworks. We then used our learning to help us draw portraits of King Charles III.

Next week

English: we will be innovating and writing our own sets of instructions based on ‘How to Trap a Dragon’

Phonics: we will be concentrating on /l/ as in /l/ll/el/il/le/ol/al

Maths: we will be exploring equal groups and repeated addition before linking this to multiplication

History: we will be exploring the ceremonial and defensive features of castles

Thank you Year 2 for a wonderful week!

Warmest wishes,

The Year 2 Team.
