What a wonderful week we have had in Year 2! The children have worked incredibly hard this week and they should be very proud of all the learning they have done!
In English, the children have finished their publishing of their very own story books. They have put a lot of thought into this writing and they are so proud- they can’t wait to show them off next time we have Family Friday!
In Maths, we explored different arrays. The children quickly picked up on the vocabulary of rows and columns and have been able to confidently describe different arrays. They have moved on to deriving multiplication facts from different arrays and they have relished the challenge of finding all the potential arrays for different numbers. Here are some sheets to work on at home: Sheets for Blog
In STEM, we have continued our unit on Plants.
In Geography, we explored the topography of the UK using atlases.
In Art, we created detailed observational drawings of different animals found in the Kenyan Grasslands.
Next week
English: we will start our brand new project- writing an anthology of poems to mark Sir David Attenborough’s 100th birthday.
Maths: we will be continuing our unit on division
Geography: we will be exploring the physical features of the fenlands.
Art: we will be creating mood boards of warm and cool colours. We will create different shades and try to name each colour we create (banana yellow, cherry red etc)
Thank you for a wonderful week. Have a restful and relaxing weekend.
Warmest wishes,
The Year Two Team.
