Art
We were thrilled to begin our new art project with Ms. Smith. This week, the children explored the beautiful flowers found at Wicken Fen and painted them using complementary colours. Be sure to take a look at their masterpieces on display outside the art room!
Maths
Our focus this week (and next) is on telling the time. To support learning at home click on this link to practice telling the time.
English
We launched an exciting new writing project this week: creating storybooks for the Year 2 end-of-term picnic! To get inspired, the children enjoyed reading picture books and began generating ideas for their own stories. Over the weekend, please encourage your child to think about what they would like the title of their story to be.
Guided Reading
We started our new class book Agent Asha – Mission Shark Bytes by Sophie Deen.
Phonics
This week, we focused on the /k/ sound and reviewed the /h/ sound.
Design and Technology
In D&T, we explored different methods for joining fabric. The children enjoyed experimenting with stapling, safety pinning, and gluing to see which worked best.
PRE / PSHE
In PRE, we continued learning about Islam and reflected on the important value of honesty. In PSHE, our discussions focused on how to keep both our minds and bodies healthy.

Spellings:
Ensure your child can spell the year one common exception words
Then move on to the year two common exception words

Notices
PE kit: Please ensure weather appropriate PE kit, including trainers, is in school.
Hot weather: please ensure children have a sun hat, sun screen and water with them now that we are in summer term.
Phonics books – the next changeover will be on Friday the 20th of June– please return outstanding books ASAP
