We are back in the swing of things in year 2 and what a week of learning we have had!

In English, we have learnt the story of  ‘The Three Little Pigs’ by using a story map to help us learn to become super storytellers. We then thought about what would happen if we changed the main characters in the story. We will continue this journey next week! If your child would like to practice telling the story, please find the script they learnt here so you can see how wonderful they are: The Three Little Pigs Story Map Text

In maths, we have been reviewing our learning on the place value of two digit numbers and have been using the speaking frame: I have ___ tens and __ ones. I have ___. Please find the maths sheets here if you want to recap these with your child: Maths Sheets Place Value W2

In History we discussed the question ‘what is a trailblazer?’ We looked at a variety of trailblazers and organised them into different groups.

Next week’s learning

This week your child has come home with a phonics reading book. Please can this be read with them and returned on Friday 23rd September. We will then give them another one next week that they will keep and read for two weeks. Keep checking the blog for updates on reading books.

All classes have PE on Fridays. Please ensure your child has a complete kit that includes: black or navy blue shorts and jogging bottoms or leggings, a plain white t-shirt, navy blue jumper or hoodie and trainers.

Forest school

We are lucky to have forest school this half term in year 2. This starts this coming week.

Robins – Monday

Swifts – Tuesday

Skylarks – Thursday

Please ensure your child has a forest school kit in on those days that includes: warm clothing, waterproofs and a change of shoes (ideally wellies or sturdy shoes).

Snacks

The school provides all children in KS1 with fruit or vegetables. However, please do send your child in with an extra healthy snack if you wish but this must contain no nuts.

Year 2 parent meeting

Thank you to those who managed to attend the parent meeting on Wednesday, we hope it was informative. If you weren’t able to make it, the slides have been sent out to you via Parentmail.

Family photos

We are busy creating our new class family boards for the year and would love a family photo from each family to put on display. Please can you send your child in with a photograph or, alternatively email this to enquires.
