December has arrived and Year 2 is starting to feel festive!

Summary of learning

In Maths, we have been adding by making 10. For example, 8 + 3 = 10 + 1. We will continue this learning next week.

In English, we have written our final paragraph and ending. We focused on spelling common exception words, used iPad to correct spelling mistakes and finally checked for capital letters and full stops. Next week, we will revise our work before publishing it.

In Geography, we have continued our unit on London and Cambridge. This week we looked at the reasons for urbanisation and why so many people choose to move from rural areas into cities. Next week, we will complete this unit of work by comparing the two cities.

In phonics, we have completed our two week cycle on the /oe/ sound whilst reviewing the /i/ sound.  Your child received a new phonics book today which will be changed on Thursday 18th December. Please ensure you are reading these daily alongside a reading for pleasure book. Start to ask your child questions about what they are reading to support the development of their comprehension skills.
