It has been lovely to welcome back the children this week for our final half-term of Year 2 – how the year has flown by!

In English this week, we read the story ‘Leon and the Place Between’ using this as a stimulus to help us to think about how to generate questions, as well as think about the four different sentence types; commands, statements, exclamations and questions.

In Maths, we have been continuing with measurement, but focusing on volume, capacity and the use of millilitres as a unit of measure.

In PSHCE, we discussed in Circle Time how we stay healthy and what being ‘healthy’ looks like, considering the impact of diet, sleep, personal hygiene and exercise.

Next week:

English: we will be using ‘Leon and the Place Between’ to write a setting description.

Maths: we will be continuing with measurement, focusing on the use of litres as a unit of measure as well as looking at temperature.

Phonics: we will explore the spellings of /c/.

Project: we will begin our new project, ‘Children’s Rights’, which has a spotlight focus on PRE (Philosophy, Religion and Ethics).

Well done to all of the children for another fantastic week of learning!

Very best wishes,

The Year 2 Team.
