Year 2 have had a brilliant week!

In English, Mr Wolf has been back again to visit us. We have been continuing to tell his side of the story using verbs, co-ordinating conjunctions and even similes! Next week, we will be focusing on revealing emotions through our writing.

In phonics, our focus sound this week has been /d/ and we have continued to review different ways to build the /ay/ sound. Next week, we will be looking at the /ee/ sound.

In maths, we have been practising counting in 2s, 5s and 10s as well as starting to count in 3s. We have used physical resources to help us spot patterns. Please find the maths worksheets here:Maths W5 worksheets

We created ‘sticky strip’ pictures in forest school this week which the children really enjoyed!

In history, the children have been introduced to historical sources to learn about Mae Jemison and  have compared the Apollo 11 space mission to Endeavour. Can they tell you if Mae Jemsion is a trailblazer and why?

In STEM, year 2 investigated the rigidity of different materials. We carried out an experiment using weights and rulers made of plastic, wood and metal. Ask your child which ruler was the most rigid- how did they find out?
