We have had another wonderful week in Year 2 this week! We have been reading the book ‘Super Happy Magic Forest: Slug of Doom’ by Matty Long and doing some role play based on the story to help us think about how the characters look and move so that we can use some interesting adjectives and verbs in our writing.

In Maths, we have been continuing with bridging 10, thinking about all of the different ways in which we can do this; for example, using a number line, part-part-whole model and so on.

For our History lesson this week, we have focused on learning more about the trailblazers Neil Armstrong and Mae Jemison, looking at historical sources in order to think of questions we have about their work as astronauts.

Next week:

English: we will begin planning our adventure stories unit based on ‘Super Happy Magic Forest: Slug of Doom’ by Matty Long.

Maths: we will be working on some problem solving.

Phonics: we will explore the spellings of /er/.

History: we will examine and ask questions about sources relating to Josephine Baker and Emmeline Pankhurst.

Geography: continue with locational and directional work.

Art: continue exploring the art style of Georgia O’Keeffe.

Well done to all of the children for another fantastic week of learning!

Very best wishes,

The Year 2 Team.
