It has been great to welcome everyone back and we have been impressed by the children’s attitude to learning this week!
Our topic this half-term is robots and this week in English we discussed whether we would trust a robot or not and then enjoyed the story No-Bot. Here is the link to listen to the story: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1KaIGt4qxYM Next week, this story will inspire us to write our own.
In maths, we started looking at time. We know some children will find this challenging as it requires lots of practice so here is an interactive clock you could use at home: https://www.visnos.com/demos/clock. We learned to read half past, quarter to, quarter past and o’clock; find durations of time; convert from hours and minutes to minutes.
Here are the sheets we worked on this week:Maths – time sheet
We ask for your help to continue practising times tables and arithmetic questions. We are completing daily arithmetics challenges and children are eager to beat their score. Here are some of the sheets we did this week:Y2_Arithmetic_Test_1 Y2_Arithmetic_Test_2
Reading: we practised answering comprehension questions using the text to support with this. Guided reading
We had an exciting drama workshop where we became superheroes and thought of ways to save our planet by reducing, reusing, recycling.
Today we celebrated World Earth Day: https://www.earthday.org/earth-day-2022/ We discussed our roles in helping the planet. There is a great challenge you could complete as a family which is writing a letter to the Earth, here is the link: https://www.letterstotheearth.com/
In science, we looked at the difference between living and non-living things and also talked about how this is different from dead things.
