We have loved this week with lots of extra opportunities for outdoor learning and investigations! It has been a joy to take time to enjoy and appreciate the wonder of nature. We particularly enjoyed exploring the forest for creepy crawlies, looking at some rather fascinating objects through microscopes and practicing our orienteering skills.

In Maths, we have been continuing our learning on fractions. Building on last week, we were introduced to thirds and three-quarters of shapes. We have also begun to explore equivalence in fractions, building our own fraction walls with cuisenaires to help us with this. Please see attached sheets for practice:

Maths 1, Maths 2, Maths 3,Maths 4

In English, we have been inspired by Pie Corbett’s ‘Recipe to make a wolf’ poem and wrote our own poems to describe different animals. The creativity has been impressive; the children have really amazed us with their language choices as well as their artistic ability!!!

Coming up next week:

  • Maths – finding fractions of numbers rather than shapes
  • English – we will be exploring and debating the ethics of zoos.
  • Premier speed kick sponsorship challenge

Thanks so much to all of our parents who came to the Learning Conversations this week. It was wonderful to celebrate the learning and progress that your children have been making.

Wishing you a peaceful and restful weekend.
