We have had an exciting and busy week  in Year 2!

We celebrated “World Book day” on Thursday and it was a wonderful experience for children to share and enjoy their  favorite books. They also had the exciting opportunity to meet a children’s author and illustrator who presented their latest book.

In our geography lessons, we are going to be comparing the Fenlands and the Kenyan grasslands. This week our focus was reading topographical maps and learning about the fenlands as we live in this area – they extend across 4 counties, Lincolnshire, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk.

In English, children explore fables and their moral lessons. They practice structuring their own moral tales by creating story maps to plan out their narratives.

In Maths, we continue to practice multiplication and division by making connections with arrays and sharing in equal groups. Maths Sheets Week 2

In STEM, we learnt about the pollination process. We explored the relationship between plants and pollinators and the importance of protecting bee populations.

Key messages:
Plastic bottle plea!
As part of our geography unit of work on the Fenlands we will be creating our own drainage systems! We will need large (1.5 / 2l) plastic bottles so, if you have any, please drop them off next week.
Reading books: Please make sure these are returned on Friday 15th March ready to be changed.
Please make sure you return books on the day. You will incur a £5 fine if this isn’t returned. Your child will be given their new phonics book once the old one is returned.
PE: Please make sure the PE kits have returned to school ready for the Spring term. Ensure that children wear appropriate clothing for the weather.
