It has been another busy week in year 2 – we have squeezed a lot into the shorter four day week! We were so proud of the manner in which the year 2 children conducted themselves on VE Day and how engaged they were with learning about the event.

Summary of learning

In Maths, we have continued our unit of work on measurement and specifically measuring temperature using a thermometer.

In English, we wrote poems inspired by the theme of hope that endured throughout the second world war.

In phonics, we have started to focus on the /or/ sound – can your child give you examples of words in which the /or/ sound is represented by different letters incuding ore (more), aw (thaw),  our (court), ough (bought) and augh (taught)? We also reviewed the /m/ sound.  Some phonics books were not returned on Friday  please ensure these are brought to school on Monday.

In SPAG, we revisited adverbs.
