We have had a jam packed week full of learning this week!
In English, we read the book ‘The Comet’ and discussed the question ‘what is home?’. Later in the week, we created poems based on one of the images from the story using fantastic adjectives and adverbs.
In Maths, we learnt about our bonds to 100. We specifically spoke about how our bonds to 10 can support us with knowing our bonds to 100. If I know that 2 + 8 = 10 then 20 + 80 = 100. Please find the worksheets here: Maths Week 2 Bonds to 100
Also, here is a link to a maths game where your child can practice their bonds to 100.
In Geography, we started our new project ‘Cambridge and London’ and located where both Cambridge and London are on a map as well as finding out about the different map symbols and their meanings.
In Phonics, we have been learning the /i/ sound this week. Please see below some of the words we have been learning to read, write and spell.
built, trip, pretty, busy, myth, drip
Please return books on Wednesday 15th November. These will be changed then for your child due to the short week.
Please make sure you return books on the day. You will incur a £5 fine if this isn’t returned. Your child will be given their new phonics book once the old one is returned.
Please ensure your child has bought in their PE kit for this half term. As the weather is changing, it is important that they have jogging bottoms and or leggings as well as a jumper.
PE days this half term:
Swifts – Wednesdays and Fridays
Skylarks – Wednesdays and Fridays
Robins – Thursdays and Fridays
We are looking forward to seeing you for learning conversations next week! Please book a slot if you haven’t already
Just a reminder that Thursday 16th and Friday 17th are INSET days next week.
Maths Free Resource
Whiterose maths have released some free workbooks for parents and carers to use at home with their children. This relates closely to what the children are learning about in class. We have just finished place value so this may be a good place to start. Here is a link for you: https://whiteroseeducation.com/parent-pupil-resources/maths/free-downloads
