In English, children started writing their fantastic nature poems. They looked at personification, alliteration, repeated phrases and onomatopoeia. They have been so engaged with their writing this week.
Year 2 were also luck enough to be visited by some Year 6 students who shared their personal writing projects. It was wonderful to see Y6 sharing their amazing ideas.
Phonics: Phonics resources – review ie and ar
In Maths: we’re focusing on counting in 2s, 5s and 10s, with extra practice in counting by 3s. Through hands-on activities like exploring patterns on number charts. Maths W5 worksheets.pdf
In Stem: our focus was stretchiness and smooth. Children made a hypothesis, the smoothest material will/won’t be the stretchiest. They then perfomed an experiment and collected their results to form a conclusion.
Key messages
Reading books: please make sure these are returned in the morning of Thursday 15th October. The phonics books relate to the spellings we have been learning in class so please use them for any spelling practice alongside the reading. Your child will be given their new phonics book once the old one is returned.
PE days: Please ensure your child has a complete kit that includes: black or navy blue shorts and jogging bottoms or leggings as the weather is now turning colder, a plain white t-shirt, navy blue jumper or hoodie and trainers.
