It was wonderful to welcome so many of you in our classrooms this morning for Family Friday, the children were so excited to showcase their fabulous learning and talk about what they have been doing in school. We have had another brilliant week that has been full of learning and smiles- well done Year 2!
In English, the children have continued their poetry unit. They have been thoroughly inspired by all things nature and have generated lists of vocabulary for their poetry that are bursting with nouns, adjectives and verbs! They created ideas hearts that were FULL of so many things from the natural world that they find inspiring. They rounded off the week by making their anthologies- we cannot WAIT to see the incredible poetry that they will produce.
In Maths, we began our measurement unit by exploring measuring in centimetres using rulers. We were delighted with the way so many of the children used the rulers accurately to draw and measure lines of different lengths. Here are some practice sheets to explore at home: Sheets for blog
In STEM, we have continued our unit on Plants.
In Geography, we explored the different uses of land in the fenlands.
In Art, we used our reference images to draw incredibly detailed pictures of our chosen animals. The children took such care over their shading and attention to pattern and they have created stunning pictures that are now ready to be enhanced with collage!
Next week
English: we will continue our poetry unit. We will plan and illustrate our poetry anthologies based on our five inspirations from the natural world.
Maths: we will continue to explore measurement
Geography: we will be exploring the location and topography of Kenya.
Art: we will be enhancing our animal pictures using collage.
Thank you for a wonderful week. Have a restful and relaxing weekend.
Warmest wishes,
The Year Two Team.
