We have had a great start back in year 2 and it’s been filled with lots of learning as usual!
This term, our book project in English is all about instructions! The children are becoming experts in different subjects and learning how to explain the steps clearly. Soon, we will begin illustrating our fabulous instruction books! For more information about the weekend task, please click here:Writing project
In Maths, we have been exploring multiplication through grouping and repeated addition. Instead of jumping straight into times tables, we are focusing on understanding the relationship between repeated addition and multiplication, building a strong foundation for future learning.
In Phonics, the children have been learning the /j/sound and revisiting the /oo/ sound. They are also developing their skills in recognising the same sound with different spellings, helping to strengthen their reading and writing.
Our Geography project, “How do lives in the British Fenlands and Kenyan Grasslands compare?”, is now underway! The children have been learning about world topography, particularly focusing on the UK and Kenya. They have also been introduced to the Equator, as well as the Northern and Southern Hemispheres.
It’s been a fantastic start to the term, and we can’t wait to see all the amazing learning ahead!

*We kindly ask all parents to check their children for lice and nits and treat them appropriately if needed. Unfortunately, we are still seeing cases across the year group. Your support in helping to manage this is greatly appreciated.
