It’s been an action-packed week in Year 2, full of learning and laughter!”

The art class was a blast for the children as they welcomed the colors to animate their fantastic clay sculptures !

In history,  we revisited our  lessons focusing on hereditary, constitutional, and absolute monarchies. We discussed how they have influenced societies throughout history and explored how they’ve left a lasting mark on the way societies are governed and their cultural development.

In English, our coverage of King Charles III’s coronation is now live in our own fabulous UCPS Chronicle!

We’ve been exploring the art of alliteration and mastering its use in headline writing,  here are some exciting  examples: Royals Rejoice! Majestic Monarchs! King Crowned!

In phonics, we have continued to look at the /v/ sound. We also looked at adding ‘est’ to the end of a word. We learnt that when a word ends in a ‘y’ such as ‘funny’ we swap the y for an i and add est to make ‘funniest’.

In maths, we have been learning to recognise the value of coins and went shopping at Birds R Us to practice using various combinations of amounts.

Maths Week 5 Money

Next week: Get ready, parents! It’s Shakespeare Week at UCPS, where we’ll be exploring the captivating world of William Shakespeare through fun activities and interactive lessons.
Our focus play will be ” A Midsummer Night’s Dream”
