It has been a busy week for everyone in year 2 and despite lots of excitement we have been getting on with lots of learning.
Summary of learning
In Maths, we have been we have been adding and subtracting 10s.

In English, we have been illustrators and illustrated three pictures for our memoirs. While illustrating we have started planning what we will write next week.
Our grammar focus has been the suffix -‘s for singular possessive nouns. For example: Megan’s, the girl’s, the child’s, my mum’s.
In our history lessons, the children have been exploring the life and times of King Henry VIII, exploring the concepts of power and authority during his reign. They had great fun acting out the story of King Henry the VIII and his six wives.

In STEM, our focus is materials and their properties. This week we investigated the freezing point of liquids.

In Phonics, our focus sound this week is /v/ and we have been recapping the /er/ sound. As ever, please read with your child daily using both the decodable books and reading for pleasure books. Phonics books were changed today and will be changed again on Friday 7th February.
In art children had great fun using clay to make models of King Henry the VIII and Queen Elizabeth I.
