This week the children have taken a deep dive into our new project, Monarchy. In history we have looked at royal ceremonies and compared how coronations have changed (and stayed the same) over history. In English the children have tested out their SPaG skills in everything from the punchuation game to building noun towers. In maths we’ve tackled adding double digit numbers together and explored the different ways of representing it. . And as young scientists in STEM the children have also been measuring their hands and feet before gathering information from their peers and comparing data.
Here’s what’s in store for next week…
English: We’ll be taking a look at instructions – particularly how they can be used to catch those pesky, fire breathing beasts.
Maths: We’ll be introducing the concept of re-grouping when adding two digit numbers (where the ones bridge 10).
Phonics: We’ll be taking a look at the ‘ie’ sound and its different spellings i/ie/y/i-e/igh (as in lie, bite, light etc.).
Well done Year 2 for completing your first full week back!
