Year 2 have been working incredibly hard this week. We have been really impressed with the dedication they showed during their SATS – we are so proud of all their efforts!
This week in English, we have been focusing on poetry. We have been exploring different poem styles and have created a three wonderful poems, based on the forest, being healthy and nouns. We have practiced performing our poems and have began to explore what makes a good performance.
In Maths, we have been applying our learning to play a range of Maths games and solve some Maths based problem solving activities.
In Topic, we have continued to explore or Robot topic. We have been learning about different robots throughout history, and focusing on how they gave changed. We have also been thinking back to our trip to the Zoology museum and the visit from NAO the Robot, and discussing what we enjoyed. In forest school we have been making songs about the forest using instruments created in the forest and working on our cutting and drilling skills. In Science, we made our own habitats, exploring what different animals need to survive.
We also made a healthy fruit salad in our learning about healthy living.
In PE, we have been working on our throwing and catching skills and practiced group relays. Here are some fun challenges you could practice at home.
Next week we are going to be celebrating the Queen’s Jubilee. We are going to be creating decorations and lots of Art! We will also be focusing on letter writing and will be writing a letter to the Queen!
On Friday, we will be having our whole school street party and will be eating in the inner circle! What an exciting last week of term we have planned!
We have noticed many of the children are not bringing their full PE or forest school kit. It is important children bring these on relevant days otherwise they will not be able to take part.
