It was so lovely to welcome so many of you into the classrooms during Family Friday- thank you for taking the time to see the wonderful progress your children have made this half term. We were lucky to have a scientist come to visit us this week and share his expertise around habitats and animals. The children were very excited about this visit and were especially thrilled to interact with some real life specimens.

We were very busy this week producing our most recent writing showcase- we were very impressed with the progress that the children have made since their last piece of writing. During Maths we have been consolidating our knowledge of adding 2–digit numbers and 1-digit numbers or multiples of ten. We have been applying our knowledge to real life contexts and exploring different representations.

Next week:

English: we will be working on using conjunctions and contractions

Phonics: we will be exploring the spelling <ow>

Maths: we will be using our reasoning skills to solve puzzles and problems

Science: we will be making posters about issues caused by climate change

Geography: we will be using our research to create posters about our chosen climate zone

Thank you for a joyful week. Have a lovely and restful weekend.

Warmest wishes,

The Year 2 team.
