Wow! What a glorious week! It was joyful to see so many families enjoying their children’s super learning during the showcases and at Family Friday. We have been delighted with the children over this past half term- they have worked incredibly hard and risen to the challenge!!

During Forest School this week the children had the opportunity to follow their own interests and enjoy the forest in their own way. Many children chose to make their own dens using poles as trees as supports- some children even tied grass together to make their own string- how very resourceful!

We were also very busy preparing for the DT and computing showcases- we ope you enjoyed seeing the results of your children’s hard work this half term!

In our English lessons we used the pages from ‘100 things to know about computers, coding and numbers’ as inspiration for us to create our own double page spreads. The children researched an animal of their choice using factsheets and then they wrote non-chronological reports. The children were able to apply the features of this genre in their own writing. They then used their research to help them create their double page spreads with stunning results:

During Maths we have been comparing the weights of different objects and measuring using grams and kilograms. We practised reading different scales accurately, making sure we looked closely to see what the scale is. Here are some sheets that you can use at home. Practice sheets

We hope you all have a lovely and restful half term break!

Warmest wishes,

The Year 2 Team.
