Summary of learning

In English, we have started a new unit of writing inspired by the book, The Comet, and the theme of change. The children will write a transitional booklet setting out some of the changes between year one and year two. This week, they illustrated their pages and next week they will write the text. The grammar focus will be on complete sentences (subject + verb) and coordinating conjunctions.
In geography, we have started our new project exploring the cities of Cambridge and London. The starting point was to locate both places on a map of the UK! Next week, we will explore some human and physical features of the beautiful city in which we live.

In phonics, our focus sound has been /ee/ and we have reviewed the /d/ and /ue/ sounds and retrieved the /ae/ sound. The children have received a new phonics book today. Please read this daily over the next fortnight alongside a reading for pleasure text of their choice.
