We have enjoyed a wonderful final week of autumn term with a festive story telling event, Taste-ed, art, Christmas lunch and much more! After a very busy few weeks, we hope you all enjoy a restful Christmas and holiday.
Summary of learning
In Maths, we have been revising some of our learning from the half term with a focus on our number bonds, related facts and adding one digit numbers by crossing 10. After Christmas, we will move on to subtraction.
In English, the children have proof read their fact files about the Houses of Parliament and published their favourite page. After Christmas, we will commence a unit of memoir writing.
In phonics, we have continued to focus on the /n/ sound and to review the /oe/ sound. Phonics books have been changed. Please ensure you are reading these books with your child daily alongside a reading for pleasure book. Start to ask your child questions about what they are reading to support the development of their comprehension skills.
In SPAG, we have been working on the continuous form of verbs (verb to be + -ing verb). For example, the teacher is talking and the children are learning.
