It was wonderful to welcome so many of you to Family Friday to celebrate your children’s learning over the this half-term.
Summary of learning
In Maths, we have started to add three one digit numbers by making ten. This work will continue into next term.
In English, we have added some fun facts to our fact files about the Houses of Parliament. The children have used a range of question words including what, when, did and how. Next week, we will proof read the text for grammar and spellings before publishing a favourite page.
In Geography, we have concluded our unit of work on London and Cambridge. The final lesson saw the children compare the size, population and transport of these two cities.
In phonics, we have started the focus sound /n/ and are reviewing the /oe/ sound. Phonics books will be changed on Thursday 19th December. Please ensure you are reading these books with your child daily alongside a reading for pleasure book. Start to ask your child questions about what they are reading to support the development of their comprehension skills.
In SPAG, we have reviewed use of the suffix –s- to form the plural of nouns ending in vowel +y ( key becomes keys) and use of the suffix –ies- to form the plural of nouns ending in consonant + y (baby becomes babies).
