This week in Year 2 has been filled with lots of learning as usual!

The children had an amazing time during their art class, developing their clay modelling skills by creating a bust of King Charles III.

In our history lessons, the children have been comparing the reign of King Henry VIII and King Charles III. They learnt the terms absolute and constitutional monarchy.

In English, we have become journalists, busily learning about King Charles III’s coronation and what happened so we can report on this next week! We have discovered that, as journalists, we will need to write in the past tense and in the third person.

In phonics, we have continued to look at the /v/ sound. We also looked at adding ‘est’ to the end of a word. We learnt that when a word ends in a ‘y’ such as ‘funny’ we swap the y for an i and add est to make ‘funniest’.

In maths, we learnt how to subtract two digit numbers when we need to cross a ten. We used dienes to support us. Please find the math sheets here: Maths – W4 worksheets
