We have had a joyful (but rather short!) week in Year 2 culminating in the whole school tea party to mark the coronation of King Charles III. We all had a wonderful time at this event and enjoyed coming together with the rest of school to mark this very special occasion.

You will hopefully have noticed the lovely trees that that been popping up in our classroom windows, the artwork on these trees is celebrating the theme of Earth Day and looking after our planet. The children from Robins, Skylarks and Swifts have been very busy producing apples, birds and creatures to adorn their trees- well done everyone!

During our Maths lessons this week we have been reviewing the properties of 2D shapes. We used sticks to make 2D shapes and challenged our friends to describe their properties. In English we have been using thesauruses to uplevel verbs and finds powerful synonyms. The children then moved on to creating their own banks of similes based on the colours of the rainbow. You can even create your own using this sheet at home! Similes

Next week:

English- we will be concentrating on sentence level work. We will look at the spelling rules for adding ing or ed, we will also concentrate on the use of apostrophes for possession or contraction

Maths- we will be solving problems involving addition and subtraction

DT- we will explore axles and wheels before practising different ways to attach them to vehicles

Computing- we will continue to learn how to code Dash

Thank you for a wonderful week!

Warmest wishes,

The Year 2 Team.
