What a wonderful week we have had this week! We have been impressed with the children’s dedication and the passion they have brought to their learning.
In English, we have continued to look at non-chronological reports. We have been using the research that we conducted last week to write our own non-chronological report about different countries. In line with our topic, have focused on countries with carnivals (USA, Bolivia, Brazil and Italy). The children have loved the opportunity to share their knowledge with each other. To help us write accurate non-chronological reports we have been focusing on subheadings, paragraphs, using punctuation for impacts and expanded noun phrases.
Here are some examples of non-chronological reports if you want to ask the children to read them and label the features. Examples of non chronological reports about countries.
In Maths, we reviewed time and focused on telling the time to o’clock, half past, quarter past and quarter to. We have also introduced telling the time to the nearest 5 minutes, this is something we are going to continue to work on next week.
In PE, we are learning about Carnival dances and practiced moving to music and even some steps of salsa. We built on our learning from last week by adding in mirroring routines and exploring with different speeds.
In Science, we have been learning about food chains and have been exploring the different food chains in our school environment.
Next Week:
English: We will be editing and improving our non-chronological reports. We will then be publishing our reports.
Maths: We will be consolidating our learning on time, focusing on telling the time to the nearest 5 minutes. We will also be exploring measurement, looking at weight and capacity.
In Science: we will continue to look at food chains.
