We are on a roll with our new projects. Computing had us starting to program Dash the robot as well as learning about debugging. In design & technology we started to think about the design of our soapbox car and learnt about axles and wheels ready to make our own next week. Thank you if you have already bought in boxes and junk modelling, we will be starting to use this during week 4.

In our geography lesson this week we dived further into our learning about Kenya, thinking about its climate.

In English we continued writing poetry, this time focusing on four poems in the book ‘Cherry Moon’. The poems are about a plum tree during the different seasons of the year. We were inspired by this to write our own seasonal poems, collecting ambitious vocabulary first to then use in our poems.

In maths, we are sharpening our skills in measurement and learnt all about capacity this week. We used the measuring jugs to measure the volume of liquids, compared different liquids and decided whether they would be measured in ml or L. Please find the sheets here: Maths Week 2

If you have any shoe boxes, cereal boxes or small cardboard boxes, please could you bring these into school for our design & technology project? Thank you in advance for this!
Times table website
In our daily maths sessions we have begun learning our times tables. Please find a link here to a website that has times table games to practice: https://www.timestables.co.uk/2-times-table.html
Your child’s NumBots login will also work for Times Table Rockstars. If you haven’t done so already, please start using the app with your child at home.
Reading books: Please make sure these are returned on Friday 3rd May. The phonics books relate to the spellings we have been learning in class so please use them for any spelling practice alongside the reading.
Please make sure you return books on the day. You will incur a £5 fine if this isn’t returned. Your child will be given their new phonics book once the old one is returned.
PE: Please make sure that PE kits are in school each week and that kits are the correct PE kit for school: white t-shirt, blue or black jumper, blue or black shorts/jogging bottoms/leggings, spare socks and trainers.
