What another busy week! Thank you to everyone for your flexibility on Thursday.
This week we have been trying out some independent learning to show all the wonderful things learned during the week. The children have really shown courage in trying these challenges with a positive attitude. The results are kept internally and used to inform our planning.
We had our last TastEd session and we explored different flavours in food. The children have all been very enthusiastic about these sessions and we hope they are now more excited about trying new fruits and vegetables at home! Here is a link with resources you can use at homeĀ https://www.tasteeducation.com/tasted-at-home/
In Art, we have been thinking about how to represent our school values through sculptures. We created paper-mache characters to display in our Learning Street.
We also celebrated World Food Day and the children created some great posters about this, thinking how we can all be food heroes. Here is the link if you want to find out more: https://www.fao.org/world-food-day/youth/enĀ
Phonics: some of you have asked us to share the phonics sounds we have been working on in school. These are the ones we’ve covered in the past weeks:
Different spellings of the sound /ae/: ai, ay, a-e, ea in words like paint, play, cake, great
We also looked at different spelling of the sound /ee/: y, e, ee, ea in words like hungry, we, feet, tea
Next week
Next week we will be taking part in the Friendship Run. This is an opportunity for all the children to practise running daily with their friends and reflect on the importance of physical activity.
Maths: we will be focusing on place value of 2-digit numbers.
English: we will be writing our own adventure stories using drama as inspiration.
