This week we learned what bullying means and thought about how kindness can prevent it. We talked about the ripple effect of kindness and how this brings joy and happiness. On Friday, we had our school switch off day! We learnt about the importance of being mindful about the electricity we used and minimized the schools electricity usage. The children loved it!

In English, we have been exploring letter writing through our topic on the Great fire of London. We used active story telling to immerse ourselves in the story. After this we imagined we were children in London at the time and wrote letters to the Mayor informing him about what was happening.

In Maths, we have been looking at one more and one less. We have explored this through problems solving and looking at associated number facts. We have done lots of exploration, journaling and group work this week. Please find Wednesday sheet attached: Maths sheets.

To increase our immersion in our topic, we started our cooking sessions. All children will get a chance to learn how to bake bread in the following weeks with our wonderful chefs.

In Science, we worked as a team to create strong and sturdy houses for the Three Little Bigs using our knowledge of materials and their properties. We planned our designs first and then build them using different materials.

PE: this half-term we are developing our social skills and focusing on jumping and landing. You can practice these using your home Jasmine logins and focusing on the space theme: https://real.jasmineactive.com/home/themes/space

Here is a jumping challenge for you to try at home: Home PE Jumping Dice

Next week:

On Thursday 25th we are going to take part in STEAM day. We will be focusing on bridges and developing our engineering habits of mind. Please if you have any cardboard at home could you bring it for us to use.

In Maths, we are looking at addition and the different methods we can use to solve these equations.

In English, we will be focusing on the story ‘The day the crayons quit’ and writing letters. We will be learning about the features of informal letters and will build up to writing our own letters later in the week.
