What a brilliant week we have had! Year 2 have been showing the school values in all of their learning, well done!
In English, we have been looking at the book ‘Little Boat’. We used the book to create our own stories about a little boat. The children created their own boats (we were very impressed with their origami skills) and planned a journey for it to go on. The creativity was amazing and Year 2 loved coming up with their own stories.
In Maths, we have continued looking at addition when bridging 10. We have been using tens frames, part-part-whole, numbers lines and equations to represent our answers. We have attached this weeks independent activities that were completed in lesson – Maths sheets week 5
In Topic, we have been learning about compasses and maps. We have learnt the different compass points and used this to help us find treasure! In Science we have been looking at shadows and the differences between light and dark. The children loved learning about how shadows and created their own shadow puppets to explore this.
Next week is assessment week. Year 2 will be doing assessments in Reading, Writing and Maths. The assessments will be spread out over the week and are nothing to worry about.
