This week has been assessment week across the school – an opportunity for the children in year 2 to show off everything they have learned in KS1. They have really impressed us with their focus and effort. They truly are courageous learners!

Summary of learning

In Maths, we are moving on to a unit of work on 2D and 3D shapes. This will continue until the end of this half term. The children really enjoyed going on a shape treasure hunt around the school. Perhaps you could do something similar over the weekend – see if you can spot any triangles, rectangles, pentagons, hexagons or octagons.

In English, we edited and published poems about animals. You will be able to read these at Family Friday.

In phonics, we continue to focus on the /or/ sound  and to review the /m/ sound.  We still have some outstanding phonics books. We are sharing these books across the year group and really do need them returned promptly.
