What an exciting week it has been in Year 2! The children have been immersed in creativity and joyful learning, making every moment truly special.

We were incredibly fortunate to enjoy another inspiring art session with the fabulous Mrs. Smith. The children are taking part in a whole-school art project, where they are encouraged to reflect on their personal ‘diamond moments’. As part of this project, each child will create a piece of artwork inspired by their chosen moment and accompany it with a written reflection.  We can’t wait to see their creations come to life and share their heartfelt stories! Keep an eye out for updates as the project unfolds.

In STEM, the children have been closely observing and recording the progress of our bean experiment. There was a real buzz of excitement as they discovered that some of the beans had sprouted, with the tallest measuring an impressive 2.5 cm!  But the fun didn’t stop there! Today, the children had the opportunity to plant their very own cress. As they carefully sowed their seeds, they recalled the five essential things that plants need to grow.
In English, the children have been busy completing their set of instructions, bringing their writing to life with clear steps. It has been wonderful to see their creativity and attention to detail as they structure their work to ensure it is easy to follow. Next week, we will shift our focus to revising and proofreading.
In Maths, the children have been busy measuring a variety of objects, developing their understanding of length and height. They have been asking important questions such as “How long is…?” and “How tall is…?”—but do you know the difference between the two? Why not ask your child and see what they say? You might be surprised by their fantastic knowledge!
In Phonics, we focused on the /g/ sound, learning how the same sound can be spelled in different ways.
