Phonics

In Phonics this week, we have been learning the sounds /a/ /e/ /i/ /o/ /u/ in more complex words (CCVCC words) such as drank, slump, spent, twist etc. Please feel free to continue to practice these with your child by building the words together and then using them in a sentence.

English

In English this week, we have learnt actions and have enjoyed retelling a new Traction Man story. We invented new and exciting characters to use in our writing next week. We have drawn images of our new characters and written captions describing who they are and what they are doing.

Maths

In Math this week, we have been focusing on greater than, less than and equal too symbols. If you would like to continue this at home, here is a worksheet Greater than and less than dino themed . Science

In Science, we explored the uses of wind. We looked at wind turbines and even made our own wind sock for outdoors. We had a great time discussing the different directions the wind moves in and how we can use the wind to help us in our everyday life.

Next Week

In Phonics next week, we will continue to build CCVCC words with /a/e/i/o/u/. We will also revisit the /sh/ (shop) and /ck/ (black) sound.

In English next week, we will be writing an adventure story based on Traction Man but using our new characters. Our focus will be using capital letters, finger spaces and full stops. Please see the sheet for extra practice Capital letters and Full Stops

In Maths next week, we will be looking at how a whole can be represented as one object.

In Science next week, we will be exploring the uses of rain. We will be making a rain gauge so please could you provide your child with a large plastic bottle, already with the top cut off.
