English

In English this week, we continued to build on the focus text ‘Claude In the city’ by Alex T Smith. We have been writing a story using the characters we created last week and sent them on an adventure. We spun a globe to select a destination, created passports with important information and packed a suitcase! Then we used time connectives and sentences using expanded noun phrases to write about their adventure.

Maths

In Maths this week, the children have been counting in 10’s to 100. Recapping one more, one less up to 100. Partitioning 2-digit numbers into tens and ones. We created a 2-digit number with dienes and represented these as part, part, whole. Finally, Counting numbers on a number line to 100. We even took our learning outside and worked in pairs to challenge each other to draw the longest number-line using chunky chalks.

Phonic

In Phonics this week, the children have been focusing on the diagraphs <oo> as in moon and <oo> as in book. We also built polysyllabic words: Baboon, Balloon, Beetroot, Bloodshed, Bandicoot. Can you think of anymore?

Next week

In English next week, our focus book will be, ‘How to wash a Wooly Mammoth’. 16.6.23 English

We will be identifying the features of instructions. Write an introduction for instructions using a question mark, using time connectives to write instructions and finally reading our work aloud by projecting by our voices.

In Maths next week, we will be focusing on finding one more/one less than a given number, comparing two numbers with the same tens, comparing any two numbers and finally recapping on our whole unit of learning.  Maths 16.6.23
