Wow! Another fantastic week in Year One. The children have made the adults in their classes very proud this week because of their super attitudes to learning.
During our English lessons we have been creating our own set of instructions using time connectives, imperative verbs and noun phrases.
In Phonics we have been learning the /er/ sound- we looked for the /er/ sound in different words and used this new knowledge to help us write some words.
During Maths we have been learning about the commutative law (We can change the order of the addends and the sum remains the same) and working with addition and subtraction in a number line.
In our Topic lessons we learning about the Countries and Capital cities of the United Kingdom. We also have designed a monument remembering The Great Fire of London.
In Religious Education we have been creating super heroes that can save the world from climate change, poverty, hunger and pollution. We also have been learning about Christianity and the story of the first Christmas.
In Physical Education we have been working on our static balance seating on the floor.
Next week:
English- We will be writing poems and creating Christmas cards.
Phonics- We will continue to work with the sound /er/ (Girl, fern, turn, worm)
Maths- We will be doing Christmas activities with numbers, addition and subtraction.
