English

This week we have enjoyed the popular story of ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’. By E. Carle

We used this story to learn about plurals and how words end <s> or <es>.

Phonics- We focused on the <ee> sound and its various different spellings. < e>  < ee>  < ea>  < y>  < ey>  <ie>  < i >

Word building: /e/ – he   /ee/ – feet   /ea/ – cream   /y/ – dolly /ey/ – donkey  /ie/ – field /i/ – ski.   Please continue to consolidate these sounds at home and challenge your children to write     these words in simple sentences.

Maths

In Maths this week, we have been focusing on comparing length, mass and capacity.

Science

Examining and naming parts of a flower.

Next week

In Phonics the children will be learning the /oa/ sound.      <o>   <ow>    <oe>   <o-e>

In English, we will be practicing ‘free writing’ and using our imaginations to write stories containing a beginning, middle and end.

In Maths, we will continue to focus on comparing length.
