What a wonderful week filled with stories and (real life) superheroes! Here is our week in sum:

English: This week we delved further into our Traction Man adventures through Talk4Writing which is a way of bringing our stories to life through action and spoken word. We have begun planning our own original Traction Man adventures, we changed the setting of our stories which meant that Traction Man and Scrubbing Brush encountered very different problems and their adventures had a very different resolution.

Maths: We enjoyed deepening our knowledge of number bonds to 5 through different representations such as part-whole diagrams and multilink towers – we are still working on how to systematically find all the possible ways to make 5 and will continue to practice this next week.

Topic: Our topic learning centered on gratitude to the NHS, we worked together to write thank you cards and create our own NHS Thank You Song to the tune of Twinkle, Twinkle – stay tuned for more updates on this!

Next week…

English: We are finally spreading our wings as authors of our own original stories inspired by Traction Man – we will be writing three sentences that center on a beginning, problem and resolution.

Maths: We are moving on from partitioning 5 to 6 next week and supporting children to apply their knowledge of commutative law (numbers can be presented in any order and add up to the same amount) to find all the ways we can make 6.

Topic: We will be learning about our own local hero, Alan Turing and will even be trying to crack messages written in code – how exciting!

Next week is Healthy Living and Physical Activity Week! We’re looking forward to being active every day and participating in Friendship Runs, please do ensure that your child has their full PE Kit available so that they can full participate.
