This week has been short but sweet! In English we have been focusing on questions and being able to identify the difference between a question and a statement. We met a strange man called Grandfather Twilight, we asked him questions to find out more about who he is and what he does. We also played the game 20 questions to practise our question asking.

During maths this week we have been focusing on Subitising. Subitising is how we see a group of objects as numbers. We explored how different people see numbers and subitise in different ways.

In topic this week we have been exploring things that are wonderful in the world. We talked about amazing things we have on our planet, like precious rocks, flowers, animals and much more. We spoke about why we thought these things were wonderful. We also did science this week, we spoke about different materials and then went on a hunt around the school, identifying different objects and the materials they are made out of. We found windows made from glass, benches made from wood, door handles made from metal and hoola hoops made from plastic just to name a few.

Next week

  • Phonics will focus on the blends ‘tr’ ‘nk’ ‘gr’ and ‘br’
  • In English we will be exploring instructions and how to follow them.
  • Maths we are partitioning numbers 9 and 10 working on our number bonds.
  • In topic we will be further exploring materials and looking into the properties of different materials.
