What a great week of learning we had in Year 1
In Phonics we introduced the ‘ee’ sound. CE/HF words: see, he, she, me, we, be, three, keep, tree, funny and read.
In English we created a fact file about an animal and we focused on how they look, what they eat and where do they live. You can create a fact file with your child using this worksheet. Animal fact file
In Maths we focused on different ways to create the number 6 and the number 7 using tens frames and part-whole models.
In Science we have been learning about reptiles and their main features. We also created a fact file about one reptile.
Next week.
Next week will be our first trip of the year! We are looking forward to visiting the Zoology Museum in Central Cambridge, We are still waiting for some children to pay for the trip. If you have not pay yet the deadline for this will be Tuesday.
The trip dates are the following:
- Bumblebees Wednesday 23rd morning (9:00-1:30),
- Dragonflies Thursday 24th morning (9:00-1:30)
- Butterflies Thursday 24th afternoon (10:30 – 3:00).
Thank you to all the parents who offered themselves to help in the trip. Will share more information with you about how to support and help in the trip on Monday and Tuesday.
English: We will learn about different habitats and create posters. You can go on a minibeast habitat hunt using this worksheet Minihabitat hunt
Maths: In Math we will be continuing to focus on numbers 8 and 9 and all the different possibilities. You can practice this worksheet Number 8 and 9 with your child.
In Science we will learn to classify animals based on their diet.
In Phonics next week, we will introduce the ‘oe’ sound. (Words: boat, cold, snow, note, toe)
We will also make an aviary out of junk modelling. Can your child bring a shoe box by Tuesday, please?
