We hope you enjoyed our first week of online learning, we are excited to launch our second week of online provision with an adventure into deepest darkest space themed around Oliver Jeffers’ book ‘The Way Back Home’.

Please find our online learning booklet here: Home Learning – Week 2 Booklet The Way Back Home (Year 1).

Here is a summary of the learning that will take place and some relevant resources you will need to support it…

English – we will be focusing on developing our narrative imaginations through role play, drawings, re-imagining every day objects and sending messages in character. Each ‘episode’ has a theme: home, journeying, landing, communicating and reflecting.

Here is a link to the story.

Mathematics – we will be introducing the concept of subtraction as reduction (the amount getting smaller) through the First-Then-Now structure. This will be supported through using stories and games.

Here are the Hopscotch Problems for Episode 3.

***UPDATE: Here are the Ordering Equations for Episode 5.

Phonics – we will be introducing new Phase 5 digraphs ay (as in day or way) and ou (as in cloud and proud) as well as recalling the tricky words (be, was, my, you, her, they, all, are) we were learning prior to the Christmas holidays.

We hope you enjoy the videos and look forward to seeing you in our live interaction sessions next week!
