Wow! What a wonderful week! The children have been so excited about learning about the Queen and her Platinum Jubilee- they have worked so hard this week and we are very proud of them all! Some of the highlights of the week have been: drawing beautiful and detailed portraits of Queen Elizabeth II, making FABULOUS crowns to wear for our celebration and building castles fit for a queen. Thank you to all of the children in Year One for brilliant learning this week!
This half term has whizzed by- we have seen super progress this half term and we are very impressed with the amazing attitudes to learning shown by the children in Year One!
Next half term:
Our focus will be around the history, costumes, sights and sounds of the carnival… this will culminate in a very exciting event!
Phonics: The phonics screening will be taking place during the first week back- please keep on decoding real and pseudo words at home- especially ones containing split digraphs!
English: We will be writing words and sentences in the past tense (adding the suffix ed),
Maths: We will be developing our skills in subtracting numbers within 20.
Have a lovely, relaxing and safe half term break!
Warmest wishes,
The Year One Team.
