In Phonics, we focused on the /oo/ sound spelt <u> /oo/; /o/; /ue/; /u-e/; /ew/ used in words such as: moon, chew, do, cute, glue. If you are unsure on how to use the reading bookmarks, please follow this link to a guided video https://youtu.be/EJ0pwf2SUa0.

In English, we focused on the greatest fire of London in 1666. We worked on describing fire, using adjectives, expanded noun phrases, verbs and feelings. In addition, we read the story, recognizing the characters and analyzing the life in 1666.If you would like to continue this work at home, your child can create a word mat of adjectives and write some sentences based on the fire of London.

In Maths, we focused about subtraction facts, using FIRST, THEN, NOW and identifying the inverse operation. It would be great if you could continue practicing this at home.

In Science, we focused on materials such as: metal, wood, fabric, plastic and glass, having the opportunity to investigate more about their properties, and explore the classroom and surroundings.

Next week

In Phonics, we will be learning the <ie> sound spelt /i/; /ie/; /y/; /i-e/; /igh/ for example: kite, dry, pain, light, tie.

In English, we will continue to focus on using adjectives, writing sentences using time connectives such as: First, Then, Next, After that, Suddenly and Finally. . The focus text will be ‘The three little pigs.’ where children will enjoy sequencing the story line.

In Maths, we will review the subtraction and focusing on counting on within 20, using tens frames, number lines and partition.

In Sciense will be focusing on matching materials, learning the differences between an object and the materials it is made of.
