Fee Fi Fo Fum, what wonderful learning the children have done!

This week we have been exploring the story of Jack and the Beanstalk. In English we have been innovating the story by changing some of its elements. We have changed the beanstalk for our own plant of choice, we have changed our antagonist and we have changed what Jack took. Next week we will be writing up our alternative fairy tales into our own books, creating a special front cover for it.

In maths we have been exploring the concept of two more and two less. We have looked 2 more and 2 less in relation to odd and even numbers. For example exploring how adding 2 to an even number gives us the next even number or how subtracting 2 from an odd numbers gives us the previous odd number. We have also been reading and answering maths word problems solving

Next week

As mentioned previously in English we will be writing our own version of Jack and the Beanstalk.

In maths we are looking at doubling and halving and exploring whether doubling whole numbers ever gives you an odd number.

In science we will be exploring what it means when something is living and the 7 functions that tell us that something is alive.

In Phonics we will be looking at the soft ‘c’ like in the word ‘celery’ and recapping all other phase 5 sounds.
